We know, you’re probably in shock! No this isn’t a joke. It’s real. Really real!

What no one knew is about two years ago, we started to embark on our IVF journey in Scottsdale, Arizona. We didn’t tell anyone as we knew the path is commonly filled with complications, delays, emotions and many unknowns— which indeed it was.

During those two years, there was something unsettled in us. It left us thinking, perhaps all of these roadblocks were for a reason. Maybe this wasn't the right path for us to pursue.

Although we had more options to pursue in Florida, we paused, took a short break, and began to pray. We started to talk through the possibility of adoption.

The more we learned, the more it drew us in. The number of situations of babies—born and unborn— right here in our own country was unfathomable.

It ripped our hearts wide open. And obviously, adoption is right on brand for Candy ;)

After going through the rigorous, lengthy process to be approved to adopt— background checks, fingerprints, tax returns, you name it! We started working with agencies, attorneys, and consultants alongside doing endless research.

The stories are endless, and heartbreaking.

The pain and trauma, the second chances and hope, and the brave, courageous women who choose to give their child a chance at life that they never had— is surreal and unexplainable.

In a beautiful rare twist of fate, after only being home study approved for less than 6 weeks, we received a situation— and applied.

The attorney reached out a week later and said the birth mama wants to meet with you over zoom. We were one of three families she chose to meet to help her make her final decision.

2 days later, at 9:38 am on July 2, the call from the attorney came.

“Hey Mark, did you hear anything?” Candy asked.

“Yes, I did.”, he said. “She chose you!!!”

The emotion was palpable. Tears of joy flowed— and the online shopping and planning began!

As it is often said when God closes one door, He opens another. We are consumed with every emotion— overflowing with love, gratitude, joy, and anticipation.

There is so much to the story that makes it so obvious God’s fingerprints are all over it. We can’t wait to celebrate this miracle with each of you.
